Welcome to New Zealand Distance Riders!
2021 - North Island 800 / North Island 1,600 events
These rides will be happening again this year on the weekend of 9-10 October 2021, starting and finishing at the Turangi Holiday Park. You can go ahead and book your leave and make any accommodation arrangements that you will need.
Remember that registration and bike scrutineering starts at midday on Friday 8 October 2021.
Entries will close on Friday 27 August 2021.
The most significant change to this year’s events is to the North Island 1,600. This year there will be no manned checkpoints during the ride. Reliance will be placed on photo checkpoints and riders’ use of Spotwalla tracking software. Usage of Spotwalla is highly recommended by the Organising Group.
Because of this change, riders will need to have completed a qualifying distance ride in order to be accepted for this year’s North Island 1,600. Suitable events include (but are not restricted to) a Distance Riders North Island 800, 1,600 or 1KC ride; a TT2000; an appropriate Iron Butt Association Ride.
We take rider safety seriously and are taking reasonable steps to achieve that. As we’re removing manned checkpoints, we’re looking for evidence that riders entering the North Island 1,600 understand and are prepared for the challenges that that ride presents.
There is a small increase in registration costs for this year’s rides.
