2019 - "Double Badger"

Picture
2019 has seen the introduction of a new concept - the Double Badger, a special type of entry to both of the rides, with one ridden at the event, and the remaining ride done at some point within the following 12 months.

Verification of their independently ridden ride requires receipts and photos which will be submitted to the organisers for scrutiny before being classed as a finisher. Riders performing their own rides are allowed to start and finish anywhere they like along the route and can choose when they do the remaining ride.

Choices at the NI event

In this initial year, there have been 18 people enter for their 'Double Badger'.
  • 2 of them opted to start with the NI1600 event on the day, one of these withdrew during the ride. They'll get a chance to complete both rides in their own time. (As any person who enters and has to withdraw does...) - Marius Swanepoel was the only Double Badger rider to finish the NI1600 at the event - worthy of a special mention, well done Swanny!
  • The remainder of the Double Badger riders chose to take part in the NI800 event on the day, perhaps this was due to the weather forecast, perhaps it was the thought of being able to do the NI1600 at a more accommodating time of the year? All of the Double Badger riders who started with the NI800 ride at the event completed it.

2019 - Progress tables

We're hoping to keep these tables updated throughout the year as people complete and verify their second rides.
