Who are we?

The Distance Riders are bikers who love long rides and riding with like-minded people.

Some of us have completed other organised long ride events in New Zealand, such as the:
  • Rusty Nuts Grand Challenge
  • TT2000
  • Capital 1,000km
  • Chatto Creek 1,000 Miler
  • Iron Butt Association certified rides

We believe in safe riding and looking out for each other's well being.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, with all funds received being invested in our events or, in the case of the annual 1KC rides, provided to Muscular Dystrophy New Zealand.

The Distance Riders' organising team

Our organising team is a group of experienced distance riding volunteers focused on getting our scheduled events underway and completed safely.
  • Mike Angell
  • John Maroulis
  • Brett Sangster
  • Alan Denness
  • Graeme Anderson
  • Chris Wiltshire

We're open to feedback about our planned rides as well as ideas for other distance events.
