2016 North Island 1,6002016 Saw the introduction of the 'The Half Ride', namely the Nth Island 800, to be run in conjunction with the NI1600.
The 1600 ride had 56 entries this year, with 50 starters and 46 completing The RouteThe route this year took the riders all the way to Cape Reinga, which hadn't been done on any previous 1,000 milers, but in order to delay the riders and thus avoid the Auckland traffic, Long John found a whole lot of corners for them to negotiate around the Kawhia Harbour.
Rider Notes:The Rider's Guide for the event is issued after a briefing at 7om on Friday night. Then the riders need to plan their ride and fuel stops with it.
