The 1000km Cruise (1KC) rules and ride requirements
- All riders must have a current New Zealand drivers license with a class 6 endorsement.
- All machines must have a current WOF and registration
- Entrants may carry a pillion rider
- All entrants must be recorded passing through all checkpoints, and have evidence of all photo checkpoints, to to be officially recognised as having completed the event
- Participants will observe road rules
- A certificate and badge will be awarded to finishers officially recognised as having completed the event
- No refunds will be given after the event's scheduled closing date
- The event will be held regardless of weather conditions
- Right of entry is solely at the discretion of the Organisers. If an entry is refused, all entry fees will be refunded.
The 1,000km Cruise (1KC) event participant liability disclaimer
- I have read the details on the New Zealand Distance Riders’ website and understand the nature of the ride.
- I am aware that riding a motorcycle may cause injury to me or damage to my property or to the property of others.
- I wish to participate in this NZ Distance Riders’ event, despite any potential risks and believing that I will be able to comfortably complete the set course in the time available.
- I am physically fit and there is no health or other reason why I should not participate in this NZ Distance Riders’ event.
- I confirm that the motorcycle I will ride in the event is safe to operate, having a current and valid Warrant of Fitness and registration (Riders only).
- I confirm that I hold a current, full, New Zealand Class 6 Driver Licence (Riders only).
- I acknowledge that NZ Distance Riders’ events are not a race nor any form of contest and are subject to all road rules. This event does not promote or encourage competitiveness and I am not participating with this in mind.
- I acknowledge that I can withdraw from the event at any time, and I will notify the event organisers as soon as I am able having made this decision.
- I indemnify the organisers of this NZ Distance Riders’ event against all claims, damages or losses (including costs) incurred as a direct or indirect result of any injury to me or damage to property.
- Neither I, nor anyone associated or connected with me, will make any claim against NZ Distance Riders’ event organisers regarding any injury to me or damage to property, regardless of how the injury or damage occurred.
- I will ensure that any pillion riding with me understands and agrees to participate in this NZ Distance Riders’ event in accordance with all of the above terms and conditions. That pillion rider will also sign this form in the space provided below.
North Island 1600 rules & ride requirements
- All entrants must have a current, full, New Zealand drivers license with a class 6 endorsement.
- Pillion riders are allowed
- All entrants (including pillions) must have completed a qualifying distance ride to be accepted for the North Island 1600. Suitable events include (but are not restricted to) a Distance Riders North Island 800, North Island 1600 or 1KC ride; a TT2000; an appropriate Iron Butt Association Ride.
- Sidecars & trikes are accepted
- All machines will be scrutineered
- All machines must have a current WOF and registration
- All entrants must finish on the machines they started on, unless an agreement has been made with the Organisers
- All entrants (including pillions) must be recorded passing through all checkpoints, and have evidence of all photo checkpoints, to to be officially recognised as having completed the event
- All entrants must complete the course within the prescribed time period following their start time to be officially recognised as having completed the event
- Participants will observe road rules
- Entrants finishing outside of the prescribed time period will not get official recognition of completion
- A certificate, badge and an embroidered patch will be awarded to finishers officially recognised as having completed the event
- No refunds will be given after the event's scheduled closing date
- The event will be held regardless of weather conditions
- Right of entry is solely at the discretion of the Organisers. If an entry is refused, all entry fees will be refunded.
North Island 1600 event participant liability disclaimer
- I have read the details on the New Zealand Distance Riders’ website and understand the nature of the ride.

- I wish to participate in this NZ Distance Riders' event, despite any potential risks and believing that I will be able to comfortably complete the set course in the time available.
- I am physically fit and there is no health or other reason why I should not participate in this NZ Distance Riders' event.
- I confirm that the motorcycle I will ride in the event is safe to operate, having a current and valid Warrant of Fitness and registration.

- I understand that Event Marshalls may be present at prescribed locations and part of their responsibilities is to assess the condition of motorcycles and riders, especially regarding rider safety, and I agree to abide by any decision by a Marshall that I should rest for a period or withdraw from the ride due to fatigue or to the condition of my motorcycle.
- I indemnify the organisers of the NZ Distance Riders' events against all claims, damages or losses (including costs) incurred as a direct or indirect result of any injury to me or damage to property.
- Neither I, nor anyone associated or connected with me, will make any claim against NZ Distance Riders' event organisers regarding any injury to me or damage to property, regardless of how the injury or damage occurred.
North Island 800 rules and ride requirements

- I understand that this event is intended to be completed within the legal time period that applies to riders who have a restricted Driver License.
- I acknowledge that NZ Distance Riders’ events are not a race nor any form of contest and are subject to all road rules. The event does not promote or encourage competitiveness and I am not participating with this in mind.
- I acknowledge that I can withdraw from the event at any time, and I will notify the event organisers as soon as I am able after having made this decision.
- I acknowledge that I am only able to participate in this event at the discretion of the official Event Marshalls once they are satisfied that my motorcycle and I meet their standards and I have paid the necessary entry fee.
- I indemnify the organisers of the NZ Distance Riders’ events against all claims, damages or losses (including costs) incurred as a direct or indirect result of any injury to me or damage to property.
- Neither I, nor anyone associated or connected with me, will make any claim against NZ Distance Riders’ event organisers regarding any injury to me or damage to property, regardless of how the injury or damage occurred.
