1KC - The 1,000km Cruise - Saturday, 4th November 2023

Entries are now open:

This one is just for fun, and a pin, and a certificate...

If you're looking to find a way into the more serious Long Distance rides which the NZ Distance Riders group organise, then this is the one for you! It's a non-time limited 1,000km cruise. You have the route, the checkpoints etc well in advance, you can plan your ride at home before you turn up to join in the fun on the day.

More detailed ride instructions will be loaded onto this page closer to the date (full instructions and photos of the checkpoints you're required to visit and photograph your bike with).

There are official entries required for this ride as we need to order the correct number of ride pins, and pre-generate your finisher's certificate.

Key info, start times and locations:

  • No bike scrutineering at the 1KC events.
  • Routes are revealed, you should look at them before entering to make sure you’re happy to ride the prescribed route.
  • Both routes are fully on sealed roads.
  • Rides start Saturday 4th November, 2023 from the various starting points
    • Check-in from 6am, start from 6:30am, recommend latest start before 7am:
    • Hamilton: Glenview Club.
    • Wellington:
      • Start – Z / (Old Caltex) Rimutaka
      • End – 1841 Bar
  • No organised breakfast or dinners with these rides, but food is available at the finish venue for purchase when you’ve finished.
  • Pin and certificate provided for all finishers, including pillions!
  • No T-Shirts for these rides, sorry.
  • Photo checkpoints, camera / phone required.
  • This is a great ride to do if you’re interested in the more serious NI800 or NI1600 rides.

Your ride entry includes a certificate, and pin for you, if you qualify as a finisher.
Entries will close 30th September 2023
